District Orakzai
Orakzai District is a district in Kohat Division of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in Pakistan. Until 2018, it was an agency of Federally Administered Tribal Areas. With the merger of erstwhile FATA with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, it became a district. Before 1973, it was part of FR Kohat.
It has a population of 450,000 and area of 700 square miles (1,800 square kilometres). It is bounded in the north by district Khyber, in the east and south by Kohat and Hangu districts, and in the west by district Kurram.
The headquarter of the district is at Baber Mela. Orakzai District is currently subdivided into Four Tehsils:
- Lower Orakzai Tehsil
- Upper Orakzai Tehsil
- Central Orakzai Tehsil
- Ismailzai Orakzai Tehsil
District Courts Orakzai
"After the merger of the erstwhile FATA with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in May 2018, the District Courts Orakzai were established in February 2019 by the August Peshawar High Court. The first batch of four judges was posted on 25th February 2019 and took charge on 1st March 2019. Through their hard work and dedication, these founding judges were able to make the District Courts Orakzai Operational at Baber Mela within 24 hours of their posting."
